Its feels a bit cheesy to win like this but its strong for sure, probably one of the most op weapon with the sword of night and flame build. If you like the shield and sword combo...go for carian knight shield...or another medium shield with the no skill ash. Then pair it with the moonveil. Its a devastating combo.

It's one of those weapons that's a noob trap, imo. People get stuck on using the ranged attack as a crutch, while the actual katana moveset is extremely versatile and is, in tandem with the ranged attack, the key to being really skilled with it. Moonveil is really fast to use and does great damage. The nerf hasn’t changed that in the slightest. I think most weapons are better than the DMGS. Dark moon is pure unusable vs a lot of bosses and it's not just because of the cast time for the special. moonveil just seems better. the moves come out quick and it's just as strong, if not stronger. unfortunate, because i just got the darkmoon greatsword and love the way it looks. was thinking about respeccing for it, but i can wield it two-handed without the repsec. still might play around with it more or use it for bosses weak to frost. High damage, high bleed, and its unique skill is a better version of Unsheathe that shoots projectiles stronger than most actual sorceries.

Moonveil is busted to the point of trivializing half of the game, if that sounds fun to you then go for it, otherwise you can infuse uchi with the blood slash ash and put points into arcane for a very strong almost game breaking bleed build. Both of these make the game too easy imo. Reply. true.

Obviously in pvp it’s still alive and well. Maybe at the higher end it’s better in pve but so far at lower levels it’s underwhelming. I can’t even use it to level anymore.
